Ty Murray Internet Update:
1/24/04

I've been keeping busy, as usual. My friend Dennis Reis and I put on a daily horsemanship demonstration at the Excalibur during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December. It was a lot of fun to get to ride my horse every day in Las Vegas, and it was neat to get to share some of what I've learned about horses with so many people.

I spent Christmas here at the ranch with Jewel and my folks. We cut down a cedar tree, built a fire and just enjoyed spending some time at home together. It was a nice, quiet holiday, which is especially appreciated by a guy like me who spends so much time traveling.

I flew to Florida for U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co.'s annual sales convention January 6. That's a trip I take with Walt Garrison every year, and we always have a good time.

I headed to Colorado Springs for a January 14 PBR board meeting. The PBR is doing great on every front, and it's really satisfying to be a part of that progress. We just started our 11th season, and I'm sure this one will outdo the last one. That's how it goes every year, and that's always a good thing.

I went to the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. Challenger Tour Finals in Denver while I was in Colorado. What a great event, and it's fun to see Adriano Moraes riding like his old self again. He won the event and the year-end 2003 Challenger Tour title. He's also in the lead in the 2004 PBR Built Ford Tough Series standings. If that guy can stay healthy all year there's no telling how much he might win. He's one of the all-time greats, and has been for a long time.

Justin Boots had a 125th anniversary celebration in Fort Worth on the 22nd, and it included a celebrity rodeo. A celebrity team roping event was part of the deal, and I roped with my friend Karl Stressman from Wrangler. Guys like George Strait, Tuff Hedeman, Donnie Gay and Walt also roped, so it's no surprise that a good time was had by all.

It was an honor for me to help honor Justin. That company's been a great supporter of this sport over the years, with the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, the Justin SportsMedicine Team and so many other great programs.

I bought some more cows, and doubled my herd, so I'm happy about that. I had to sell off half my herd during the drought a couple years ago, so it's good to be back on track.

Until next time, take good care.
