Date and place of birth:
  October 11, 1969, Phoenix, Arizona
Hometown:
  Stephenville, Texas
Height/Weight:
  5'-8"/160 lbs.
Family Members:
Butch - Father; Joy - Mother; and two sisters - Kim and Kerri
Hobbies:
"I enjoy fishing and spending time on my ranch in Stephenville. Being in the outdoors has always been something that I've enjoyed. When I was growing up, I had a chance to spend time with my family in the outdoors. It gives me a chance to relax and collect my thoughts."
Favorite movies:
"My two favorite movies are Forrest Gump and The Outlaw Josey Wales. I enjoyed Forrest Gump because he symbolized the human spirit, the never say die attitude. Outlaw is just a great film, an old fashioned adventure movie."
Most memorable career moment:
"My most memorable career moment was when I won my seventh all-around championship at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December of 1998. The seventh all-around was special because there were people who didn't think I'd make the NFR again after the injuries I suffered in 1995, 1996 and 1997."
What are you the most proud of?
"I'm most proud of the fact that I was able to do for a living what I truly love -- the rodeo. Not only that, I was able to make a living at this profession as well."
Keys to personal success:
"For me, focus and dedication are the keys to my success. Also, I've received tremendous support from my family throughout the years. I like to use the term "try" which means that you never give up and you always give it your all."
What words do you live by?
"I try to live by a basic premise: 'Don't ever settle for anything but your best'."
Who has had a big influence on your life?
"My parents have had such a huge impact on my life. I'm so thankful for their support and sacrifice over the years. My Mom and Dad have always given me their unconditional love."
If you weren't a professional cowboy, what would you be doing for a career?
"I would have pursued a career in some type of professional athletics. I have always enjoyed gymnastics - I would have enjoyed a career in that."
Career advice that you would give others:
"My career advice would be simple. I've always said that it's important to do something that you love and be compassionate about it."
What is the goal you want to achieve?
"My goal is to continue doing what is fulfilling and makes me happy. If I can do that, I can achieve all of my goals."
Most inspiring moment:
"Everything I do is through inspiration. I do, however, remember a time when I was eight or nine years old and I went to see Rocky. Although it was a movie, it really made me think. It's inspiring because it's just like real life - you always have to give it your all. You can never give up, no matter what the odds."
Most humbling moment:
"Rodeo is a humbling sport. The bulls and broncs have so much power and strength - they can change your life in an instant."
If you could be President for a day, what would you do?
"If I could be President for only one day, I would like to find out about top secret missions and issues that our government is currently involved in that most the U.S. citizens do not have access to or are unaware."
